Sheikh Jarrah

Sheikh Jarrah, a neighborhood in East Jerusalem just one mile from the Old City is the key to keep Jerusalem Palestinian. Since the occupation of Palestine in 1948, Sheikh Jarrah has been the face of resistance against the Illegal settlements supported by the Israeli government and backed by the Israeli military. On October 22nd, 2021, the Israeli magistrate court ruled in favor to evict Palestinian families from Sheikh Jarrah completely disregarding the official documents the families provided to prove ownership of the land their homes were built on. The latest threat of eviction is just one example of Israel's ethnic cleansing of Palestine. The massive Palestinian resistance to defend the families and homes of Sheikh Jarrah has brought global awareness to their ongoing fight against Israel's occupation and settler colonialism, most recently popularized with the hashtag #SaveSheikhJarrah.
